A cross-cultural test of the Maluma-Takete phenomenon
Susan K Rogers, Abraham S Ross
Received 24 March 1975
Abstract. Kohler (1947) reported that when two figures were shown to English speakers, they knew, without hesitation, which of the two was a 'Maluma' and which was a 'Takete'. Those asked had neither seen the two figures nor heard the two words before. Although we understand that this finding has been replicated with non-English speakers, we have been unable to find any reference to it.
